Since 1996 I have been in the business of developing and maintaining web sites, with three full-time "webmaster" positions under my belt — all for large informational web sites — and dozens of web sites I’ve created as a freelance consultant.
My work has included daily updates of text, graphics and documents, both for public web sites and intranets. I have also designed user interfaces for Java-driven applications.
In addition, I have employed copywriting and editing skills on all my assignments. With a degree in journalism and the technical savvy to create web sites, my employers and clients have considered my writing and editing skills a major asset to their projects.
My technical skills include (non-WYSIWYG) HTML coding and set-up of JavaScript and CGI/Perl applications, such as online message boards, databases, and file upload forms. I have basic Flash skills and have created Flash "splash" pages and/or animations for several web sites.
My primary software tools are Adobe (was Macromedia) Dreamweaver and Adobe (was Macromedia) Fireworks, but I use or have used many additional applications, including Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Acrobat, and the Microsoft Office suite, as part of various projects. In my last assignment I created and managed web sites using the RedDot Content Management System.
