This dramatic series was the first bit of Wraeththu fan
fic that popped into my head after I read the trilogy.
The series
really began as just a kernel, a dramatic episode involving a hosting
har being rescued after an attack in the desert, but in the space
of a month I wrote over 40 chapters worth of drama involving not
just the hosting har, but his rescuers and the family they quickly
form. This story isn't about Tigrons or war, but deals more with
Wraeththu family life, particularly rites of passion, pearlbearing,
Feybraiah, and family relationships.
Characters
All original characters (main characters Dera, Fafa, Arafa, some
harlings, and later Tishrana), with concepts, vocabulary, etc.,
borrowed from Storm Constantine.
Spoilers
No spoilers for any specific book in the Wraeththu trilogy,
but it is imagined that this entire storyline takes place after
the Ascension. There are still original incepted hara, but Wraeththu
civilization has stablized.
Episodes
Deliverance
In this, the series opener, we're introduced to Dera, a har in need of
rescue. Dera not only gets rescue, he gets a whole new start on
life, and gives a whole new life as well.
Obstacle Course
This episode is the tearjerker of the series but it has its heart-warming
moments as well. A follow-up on family life and the fickle unfairness
of life.
Ripening Fruit
A little tale of coming of age and the maturing of the family. This
story is very much character-driven, not plot driven.
That Was Then, This Is Now (with epilogue,
Twinges)
Pressed by readers to follow-up on the series' couple, I put together
a story that puts them up against another obstacle: a third wheel.
Unlike the first three stories, this story is written from Fafa's
perspective. The epilogue is Dera's POV on the final chapter.
Generation Gap
After leaving it alone for more than a year, I'm adding on a bit
more to the series. I just kept having ideas about how the relationships
of the three hara would turn out and suddenly I had a plot outline
called "Threesome" and, well, finally time to write it, done with
everything else... so...
