Welcome to The Thrift Shop, maintained by Wendy Darling. Like any other good thrift shop, real or virtual, this site is for browsing. Spend as many hours here as you like, poking around in the corners. Better still, try something on for size!

I adore thrift shops. Most of my clothes come either second-hand from friends or from thrift, antique, or "vintage" shops. If I had a million bucks, I'd buy up about ten shops full of old clothes, furniture, lamps, and thrift shop "doo-dads." I'd build myself a thrift palace and invite the world to come and shop! Unfortunately, I don't have a million bucks, so I'm just going to pretend. Care to play along?
When you visit a thrift shop, you tend you pick up some strange books and magazines -- pieces of literature you wouldn't give a second look in a library or regular bookstore. Somehow, in a thrift shop, they become fascinating and you're willing to put down 50 cents to take them home. Witness my very own The World in 1966 and German for the American Soldier. Anyhow, to experience something similar in the virtual world, visit The Stack.
